DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Newsletter 213 October 3, 2010

Did you ever sacrificed to buy a gift for someone, only to learn later that they totally rejected it, perhaps put it away in an inner closet, returned it to the store, or passed it on to someone else? It is not a good feeling at all, is it? Now compare our Lord who gave his only begotten Son for our sakes, a tremendous sacrifice, and who added to that the additional gift of His own Spirit that we have every aid to stay safely in Him during this brief stay we live here on this earth. How it must grieve Him the way we treat his gifts!

I will give unto you the “keys” Matthew 16:19. I thank Him daily for His Son, and for His church, prepared for, and promised throughout the ages. I thank God for the inaugural gifts at that time, the use of that key, Acts 2 :38, when Peter opened the doors of heaven that we might enter in. That second gift was, the remission of sins, that we might have proper garments, and the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit), that we might have His guidance. Let us treasure these always, giving of our very best, ourselves, to Him. These are some of the reasons, I wear my best, when I attend His Table on His Day. After all, we would do that if we happened to be invited to meet the president or the queen of England as their dinner guest, wouldn’t we? Of course we would, In honor of their position, we would go buy new clothes if need be. He is the King of kings and we are invited to His table.

Ephesians 4:17-32 (King James Version)

WALK NO MORE AS THE WORLD WALKS

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
(1 Timothy 4:2, Romans 1:24, Colossians 3:5)

20 But ye have not so learned Christ. (Matthew 11:29)

TRUTH IS IN JESUS

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: (Romans 10:14, Ephesians 1:13, Ephesians 2:17, Colossians 1:5, Colossians 2:7)

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (Ephesians 4:25, Ephesians 4:31, Colossians 3:8, Hebrews 12:1, James 1:21, 1 Peter 2:1, Romans 6:6, 2 Corinthians 11:3, Hebrews 3:13)

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (Romans 12:2)

YOU ARE NEW MEN

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Romans 13:14, Romans 6:4, Romans 7:6, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Colossians 3:10, Ephesians 2:10)

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another. (Ephesians 4:22, Ephesians 4:31, Colossians 3:8, Hebrews 12:1, James 1:21, 1 Peter 2:1, Ephesians 4:15, Colossians 3:9, Romans 12:5)

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: (Psalm 3:4)

27 Neither give place to the devil. (Romans 12:19, James 4:7)

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs. (Acts 20”35, 1 Corinthians 4:12, Galatians 6:10, 1 Thessalonians 4:11,2 Thessalonians 3:8, 2 Thessalonians 1:11, Titus 3:8, Titus 3:14, Luke 3:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:12)

LET OUR LANGUAGE SHOW HIS PRESENCE

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
(Matthew 12:34, Ephesians 5:4, Colossians 3:8, Ecclesiastes 10:12, Romans 14:19, Colossians 4:6)

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (Isaiah 63:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:19, John 3:22, Ephesians 1:13)

LET US BEAR WITNESS OF HIM

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: (Romans 3:14, Colossians 3:8, Colossians 3:19, Ephesians 4:22, 1 Peter 2:1)

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. (1 Corinthians 13:4, Colossians 3:12, 1 Peter 3:8, Matthew 6:14, 2 Corinthians 2:10)
