We are accustomed to thinking of the prayer that Jesus taught his apostles in answer to their request that he teach them how to pray. It is often called the Lords Prayer though it is actually used as an example. The true Lords Prayer is found in the seventeenth chapter of the Gospel of John.
If we link this prayer with His command that we teach all nations found in both the Gospel of Matthew, directed to the Jewish nations, and recorded by Matthew, a Jew for Jewish readers, and of Mark, a Gentile writer, for Gentile readers. These two recorded commands, cover the entire earth in so far as the scriptures are concerned. All nations, Matthew, and all the world. Mark.
John records Jesus prayer, for them also, which shall believe on me through their word. That includes all people throughout the world, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved..
John 17:20-26 (King James Version)
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Even as Jesus was facing his eminent crucifixion, central in his heart and in his prayer, not the desire to escape, but his concern for lost souls.
But, what is he asking for them? That they may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee.
Why is that important? That the world may believe that though hast sent me.
And what is the result of this, so very costly price? that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW:
GOD LOVES US ALL. He loves us so much that he gave his own Son to save us from our own willful sin filled lives.
No man cometh unto the Father, but by Christ, His son, and our only redeemer.
By Bob.

The Smith's were proud of their family tradition. Their ancestors had come to America on the Mayflower. They had included Senators and Wall Street wizards. They decided to compile a family history, a legacy for their children and grandchildren. They hired a fine author. Only one problem arose; how to handle that great-uncle George, who was executed in the electric chair. The author said he could handle the story tactfully. The book appeared. It said "Great-uncle George occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government institution, was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a great shock."

THIS WEEK'S SCRIPTURE
"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?" Hebrews 1:3,4
