Luke 1:5-17 (King James Version)

5 THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. (Matthew 2:1, 1Chronicles 24:10)

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. Genesis 7,1. Acts 2:25, Acts 8:21, Philippians 2:15, Philippians 3:6, 1 Thessalonians 3:13)

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, (1 Chronicles 24:19, 2 Chronicles 8:14, 2 Chronicles 32:1)

9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. (Exodus 30:21)

10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. (Leviticus 16:17)

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. (Luke 2:9, Acts 5:19)

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. (Luke 2:9)

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. (Matthew 14:27, Luke 1:30, Luke 1:60, Luke 1:63)

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. (Numbers 6:3, Judges 13:4, Matthew 11:18, Luke 7:33)

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. (Matthew 3:2, Matthew 3:6, Luke 3:3)

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. (Luke 1:76, Matthew 11:14. Malachi 4:6)

PRAISE THE LORD, I’M BACKthe result of a bad disk and pinched nerves in my neck and not my right hand, I am on therapy for a while and the hand is slowiy coming right with my own routines. I still can’t write script, feed myself well enough to eat in company, or really type on the computer with more than two fingers.

I have downloaded the new English Standard Bible and stacks of classics at no charge at all, using Amazon’s free downloaded software. (Also for Ipad, Mac. Iphone, PC and almost anything else.) I have all Phyllis’ e-books. Not only that, even for recent books, you can download the opening chapter free, read it and see if you want to buy the whole book or not. One click changes the review to an order. If you read it you can also select the type size, highlight, add notes and place book marks at your leisure. I am highlighting my Bible now, the next reading, I plan to add notes and comments in the sidebar. I am reading books I had heard of but never seen, even in a second hand bookstore! It only took a few minutes to select, download and start reading them. When I am done, I can either choose to keep them in the computer or with a flick of a finger, erase them, as I have done a few that I don’t expect to ever read again. I doubt if I will ever read “The Tale of two Cities” again but so far I just left it there. The same is true of “The House of Seven Gables,” But “Pilgrim’s Progress” I will keep.

It Takes Fifty Years To Learn...

1. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved and never will achieve its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

2. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

3. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

4. You should not confuse your career with your life.

5. Never lick a steak knife.

6. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

7. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

8. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

9. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

10. A person who is nice to you but rude to a waiter is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)
